For Angela, resin art became much more than a creative hobby. After losing her mother, she struggled to even enter her mother's room. Everything changed when she discovered epoxy resin through resin photos and YouTube videos. What was once an empty room gradually became her resin studio. "It took me at least 6 months before I made my first pour," Angela recalls. "After that there was no holding back, I was already addicted and felt my mom all around me and has inspired me ever since. Resin was the best therapy for grieving that I have ever experienced." Angela's Creation Today, after more than four years of creating resin art, she's an active member of the resin community, inspiring thousands of makers with her unique creations. Creator Q&A Q: What do you enjoy creating the most? A: I enjoy making turtles and combining resin & glass pieces together. I find my inspiration all around and others’ art as well as my smaller molds. Q: What was the biggest challenge when you started? A: I am a very impatient person, and I was always poking and prodding my creations once I had poured them. I had to overcome this urge to constantly poke by realizing I was ruining my pieces by doing that. Q: Where do you find inspiration when you're stuck? A: When I have a lull, I reach out to the resin community and ask what they suggest I create next. I’ve never done a fairy scene on glass with resin pieces and a resin final pour to hold it all in. I wound up creating 2 pieces because I loved the idea so much. I also thrive when challenged. Angela's Creating Workplace Q: As someone who helps many beginners, what's the biggest mistake you see? A: I’ve noticed a lot of beginners jump right in without doing their research. They expect perfect results and when that does not happen, they are all asking why? I try to give the best advice depending on their situation of disaster. Q: Which Resiners tools have changed your workflow the most? A: Oh goodness, I have to say all of them listed. The curing machine is at the top of the list; it now has become too small and wanting more space inside. I do a lot of work in layers and found the sooner a piece would start to cure I’m on the next layer…This has reduced the time of laying the layers for sure! The air purifier is a game changer, I work in a room with only 1 window, I do wear all the proper PPE and feel much better with this air purifier for sure! The bubble remover is also a game changer, especially when I work with flowers or porous surfaces. Q: If someone is just beginning their resin journey today, what would you recommend? A: I would first advise them of the proper PPE, I had become allergic after 8 months of use. The tools I would recommend to a beginner is the Resiners ‘s mixer as well as the bubble remover….but I love all of the products so not sure I would stop there, lol.
