Frequently Asked Questions: UV Resin Light

Will any UV light work for resin?

Not all UV lights are effective for curing resin properly. You need a UV light that emits wavelengths between 320-420nm specifically, as standard blacklights or lower-intensity UV lights won't provide the power or correct wavelength needed for complete curing.

Can we dry UV resin without UV light?

UV resin cannot fully cure without exposure to the specific UV wavelength it's designed for. While some minimal curing might occur with extended exposure to strong sunlight, a dedicated UV resin light is necessary for complete, reliable hardening throughout the piece.

How long does it take for resin to cure under UV light?

Most UV resins cure in approximately 120 seconds (2 minutes) under our UV resin light for small flat pieces like earrings. Thicker or larger crafts may require longer curing times, which is why we offer both timed and continuous operation modes.

Why won't my UV resin cure?

UV resin may fail to cure if the curing distance is too great (ideal distance is ≤5cm/2.2inch), the resin layer is too thick, the resin has expired, or something is blocking the UV light. For best results, allow the resin to self-level for a few minutes before curing, and cure both sides of your project for complete hardening.
