From Fear to Freedom: A Resin Journey of Self-Rediscovery

Resiners: When did you first start working with resin? Do you have any memorable stories from your journey?

Fiona: I first started my resin journey at the start of 2023. I remember this because I got everything I needed to start in 2022 but then I lost my nerve! I was fully prepared, I knew what to do, but every time I went to actually make something I panicked and changed my mind. I then made it my New Years Resolution in 2023 to finally make something out of resin and this gave me the courage I needed to go ahead and make my first project.

Resiners: What type of resin projects do you enjoy making the most? Where do you usually get your creative inspiration from?

Fiona: My favorite type of resin project has to be anything to do with Christmas! It’s my favorite time of year and there are so many different projects to make. At first I preferred using UV resin, but once I became more confident with epoxy that became my favorite type to use. I follow a lot of resin artists on YouTube, and that is where I get most of my inspiration from. I try not to copy them, so I use my creative imagination to put my own spin on things.

Resiners: What role does resin crafting play in your life? What has it brought to you personally?

Fiona: Resin crafting plays a huge role in my life. A sudden illness changed me from an outgoing, active, working mum to being confined to a wheelchair which changed my life forever. I no longer had confidence, was unable to work, and I struggled to look after myself, let alone my children. I spent my 40th birthday in a wheelchair instead of going out dancing. This really affected my mental health, and I was in a dark place for a while. As my confidence grew, my children convinced me to start a YouTube channel. I enjoyed doing this, but I felt like there was still something missing, I needed a sense of purpose which I lost when I could no longer work. Then I found resin crafting and I avidly followed other creators on YouTube which helped me immensely. It then occurred to me that I could use my resin crafting to help others too. I had finally found me new purpose in life! I now treat this as my job, even though I don’t get much of an income from it.

Crafting Emotions, Mastering Techniques: Fiona’s Art with Resiners

Resiners: What do you hope people see or feel when they look at your finished pieces? What message or emotion do you want to convey through your creations?

Fiona: I like to think that my finished pieces evoke an emotional response from people. The emotion would vary according to the project – it may be heartwarming if I have personalized it for the person, sadness if I have created a memorial piece, or simply putting a smile on someone’s face can make my day! The main thing I would like to be able to convey is inspiration – to let people know that if I can do it, they can too.

Resiners: Could you share a resin crafting tip that you love with Resiners' readers?

Fiona: My first resin crafting tip would be ‘just do it!’ I’m sure I’m not alone in being scared to get started, but I regret the few months I lost because I couldn’t bring myself to do it. The next tip would be ‘don’t be too hard on yourself’. Projects can and will go wrong, but learn from it and move on. Nothing is ever wasted as, even if you are not keen on your creation, other people might love it. My third, and possibly most important resin tip, is ‘invest in a bubble removing machine’. I used to get so frustrated because my projects turned out cloudy or full of holes because of bubbles in my resin. Since using the Resiners Airless Pro I have been so much happier with my pieces and I’m no longer scared to use the fast cure resin as I know I can even get a bubble-free result with that thanks to the Airless Pro.

Resiners: Which Resiners products have you tried? Did they help with any challenges you faced in resin crafting? Any memorable experiences or suggestions?

Fiona: So far, I have tried the Resiners Airless Pro and the Resiners Purair. As previously mentioned, the Airless Pro has helped me immensely. I still remember my shock at the difference it made the first time I used it. You can hear the surprise and delight in my voice in my unboxing and review video. I was also shocked when I tested the Purair as I had no idea just how bad the air quality was in my crafting room until I started using it. I now have it on every time I’m in my crafting room as I know it will help my health, as well as the health of my kids and pets who come in and out of my room.

Brand Trust & Future Vision: Join forces with Resiners

Resiners: How did you first hear about Resiners? We'd love to know your impressions or feelings about the brand.

Fiona: I first found out about Resiners through adverts on Facebook. They sparked my curiosity, so I checked out their website and You Tube videos of other creators using Resiners products. The products and prices were very intriguing, but it was seeing Steve McDonald using the Airless Pro which finally gave me the push to try Resiners out for myself, and I’m so glad that I did! The two products I have tried so far have given me confidence in the brand and quality so I will definitely buy more from them.

Resiners: Do you have any expectations for Resiners' future products or services? We'd be happy to hear any suggestions you might have.

Fiona: I am very impressed at the expanding range of products which Resiners now offer. One thing I would like to see added to this range is UV resin. Although I mainly work with epoxy now, many projects do require UV resin at some point. As for Customer Care, I have been delighted with the service I have received from Resiners. Delivery is quick and communication from them has been fantastic.
