Creator Spotlight: How Nicole Miller Turned Resin Art into a Thriving Handmade Business

“Hi, I'm Nicole Miller, the artist behind Nicolaaaa Designs. I create handmade resin art including tumblers, memorial pieces, jewelry, trays, coasters, and custom keepsakes. What started as a creative hobby quickly became a passion for creating colorful, meaningful pieces that bring joy, comfort, and personality into people's lives. Alongside running my business and creating content online, I also work full time — so resin has truly become both my creative outlet and my way of connecting with others through art.”

How It All Started

Nicole's entry into resin art wasn't planned. In late 2024, she decided to make resin tumblers as Christmas gifts — a one-time creative project that quickly turned into something she couldn't put down. One technique led to another, and before long she was deep into videos, molds, and experimenting with new resin styles.
After a few local craft fairs, she realized she wanted to build something bigger. In March 2026, Nicole opened her Etsy shop and began sharing her work on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube — both to grow her business and to connect with the wider resin community.

Color, Marbling, and a Creative Eye

Nicole's background in photography and graphic design shows in everything she makes. Color theory comes naturally to her, which is why marbling has become her signature — bold, layered, and always a little unexpected.
She's not interested in recreating what's already out there. "There are so many talented creators in the resin community," she says, "so I always try to add my own spin to techniques and ideas." Whether she's riffing on a trending style or approaching a custom request, there's always something in the finished piece that's unmistakably hers.

The Work That Means the Most

Of everything Nicole creates, memorial pieces hold a special place. She lost her youngest son in 2022, and that experience shaped her understanding of what handmade art can mean to someone grieving. "It means a lot to me when something I create brings comfort or touches someone emotionally," she shares.
For Nicole, taking on a memorial commission isn't just fulfilling an order — it's a form of care, and a reminder of why she started creating in the first place.

Starting Out: The Honest Version

Nicole is upfront about how overwhelming the beginning can feel. With so many techniques, molds, and product directions to explore, knowing where to start is genuinely hard. Her approach was to slow down, focus on one project at a time, and let her style develop naturally through the process.
She also had to work through the fear of starting "too late." Resin art exploded during the COVID years, and she worried the space was already too crowded. What she found was the opposite: "There's always room for artists who bring their own creativity and perspective." And with better tools and resources available now than ever before, she believes it's actually a great time to be getting into resin art.

Balancing It All

Nicole still works a full-time day job. Everything else — the creating, the filming, the packing, the posting — happens around it.
Her system is a content calendar planned two weeks in advance. It sounds simple, but it's what keeps her consistent. When she recently had surgery and couldn't stand long enough to work with resin for the first three weeks of recovery, that pre-scheduled content meant her online presence never skipped a beat.
For staying motivated through slow periods or hard days, she comes back to structure. "Having a content schedule helps me avoid feeling overwhelmed," she explains. When a project gets difficult, she focuses on the finished piece — and the reason she started.

The Tools She Reaches for Every Day

When it comes to her workspace, a few  have become non-negotiables for Nicole.
The Large Resin Mat is out on her table constantly — whether she's finishing a jewelry piece, working on details, or pouring something larger. The Air Purifier runs the entire time she's creating. And the G3 Curing Machine with Extender is, in her words, "one of my most-used tools," especially useful when she's juggling multiple projects at once.
"The tools have made creating much more efficient and enjoyable," she says. Her one wishlist item: an even larger curing machine for oversized trays and bigger coaster batches.

✨ Tool Spotlight: Resiners® Alphabet Mold Kit

Watch Nicole Miller's DIY Process

When Nicole worked with the Resiners® Alphabet Mold Kit, she set herself one rule: use only what came in the box. The project she landed on was a set of patriotic-themed keychains — and everything she needed to make them was already there.
What stood out to her was how complete the kit felt for a first-time user. "I love that you included everything in it that a first timer could use to create their first project," she says. She did add white glitter from another brand and some gold UV DTF decals as finishing touches — but those were her own creative choices, not gaps in the kit.
If you've been looking for a beginner-friendly starting point that actually delivers a satisfying finished project, this is a great place to begin.

Growing on Social Media

Nicole's online presence has started converting — and she's paying attention to what works. Bold colors, unique techniques, and the moment a project comes together in the final reveal tend to perform best. Process videos do especially well because people genuinely enjoy watching resin transform from pour to finished piece.
Her takeaway for anyone building an audience from scratch: show the process, not just the result.

One Last Thing

When asked what she'd tell someone who wants to start but feels nervous, Nicole doesn't hesitate: "I encourage anyone that wants to try it. It's an art, and Art Heals. It's what calms me at the end of a long work day. I didn't know I needed a creative outlet, but I did. I want to share that joy with everyone."
